DEPA Advisory Board

This page lists the DEPA Advisory Board's focus, its members, meeting notes, and information about the GCRF fund that supports our work.

The Advisory Board gives advice and helps the project connect with people and organisations in Africa and the UK.

The DEPA Advisory Board helps shape the project. Members give advice on research, help us link with schools, arts groups and communities, and support events and partnerships.

Advisory Board Meetings 

Global Challenges Research Fund 

The fund:

  • Was set up by the UK Government in 2015.
  • Has £1.5 billion to support research that helps developing countries.
  • Supports both single-discipline and cross-discipline research.
  • Builds research skills and links between the UK and developing countries.
  • Can fund urgent research during emergencies.
     

Global Challenges Research Fund

GCRF forms part of the UK’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) commitment, which is monitored by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

GCRF partners: UK Research and Innovation; Scottish Funding Council; Higher Education Funding Council for Wales; Higher Education Division Northern Ireland; Academy of Medical Sciences; Royal Society; British Academy; Royal Academy of Engineering; UK Space Agency.

The Fund is advised by a Strategic Advisory Group and a UKRI International Development Peer Review College forms part of the GCRF global engagement strategy for Official Development Assistance (ODA) research.
