Markus Roo Breines

Markus Roos Breines is a Researcher at Fafo Institute for Labour and Social Research in Oslo, Norway. He has previously been Assistant Professor in Social Science at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he worked on a large project examining causes of child mortality in eastern Ethiopia. He has previously explored the future of digital education at the University of Edinburgh and researched distance education in Southern Africa at the Open University in the UK. His PhD in social anthropology focussed on the relationship between internal migration and social mobility in Ethiopia (University of Sussex). Markus has published widely in academic journals as well as a book entitled ‘Becoming Middle Class: Young People’s Migration between Urban Centres in Ethiopia’
