Decolonising Peace Education in Africa

Rethinking Peace Education in South Africa

Hands from multiple ethnicities all showing the two fingered peace sign

WELCOME

The DEPA conference provided a space to discuss peace education, the role of art, decolonisation, and the future of a curriculum that supports many worldviews and promotes peace. These discussions were led by artists, curators, academics, activists, community thinkers, collaborators, and other cultural practitioners who shared a commitment to building a peaceful world. The conference also highlighted the need to understand conflict and the ongoing effects of the darker sides of modern history, which continue to shape society.
