Rethinking peace education in South Africa: through art and decolonization

WELCOME

The DEPA conference provides a platform for a discussion on peace education, the role of art, decolonization and the future of the curriculum that embraces plurivesality and peace. The discussion will be presented by artists, curators, academics, activist, community intellectuals, collaborators and all the cultural practitioners who embrace the idea of a peaceful world. The need to understand conflict and the paradigm of war, calls for a serious need for attention to be paid to the hidden continuous legacies of the dark side of modernity.

Die doel van die DEPA konferensie is om ‘n platform te skep vir die besprekings aangaande onderig van vrede, die rol wat kuns daarin speel, dekolonialisering, die toekoms van die kurrikulum wat pluriversiteit  en vrede omhels. Die besprekings sal aangebied  word deur kunstenaars, kurators, akedemici, aktiviste, intelligensia uit die gemeenskap, medewerkers en al die kulturele deelnamers wat die idee van ‘n vredevolle wêreld nastreef.  Dit  noodsaak  'n ernstige   behoefte om aandag te skenk aan die verskanste, aanhoudende nalatingskap van die duistere konsepte van die  modernitiet.
