Research relationships

Nigeria research relationships have evolved throughout the project as it has been based on long established relationships with civil society, local governments, Nigerian academics, and community researchers. DEPA have held 2 conferences for Nigeria academics interested in DEPA’s themes. The first conference was held in the University of Abuja the second recently held in Maiduguri with the University of Maiduguri and the Centre for the Study and Promotion for Cultural Sustainability. In partnership we will produce a special edition/ book to highlight Nigerian academics and artists views on the decolonial discourse critically examining peace education.

Special Conference on Decolonising Education for Peace in Africa, 29 March 2022

The University of Abuja in collaboration with PADEAP Nigeria and Open University UK  organized a 1-day conference to examine the intersection of Decolonisation, Critical Peace Education, and Social Justice in Nigeria. The conference which took place between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm on Tuesday 29th of March, 2022 was held within the premises of the University of Abuja main Campus. Two plenary sessions were constituted to analyze array of scholarly papers presented by scholars from diverse academic fields.
